CONFLICT: in death date: abt 1675. also in name Henry son of Charles GOODLOE b: 1638 and Mary GIBSON (Weekes) b. 1639 in England.

"From 'Tennessee The Volunteer State - Vol 2' George Goodloe's ancestry is traced in direct line back to England, the first representatives of the family in America being George Goodloe and his wife, Mary. George Goodloe was born at Aspal, Lancashire, England, in 1639 (some sources suggest 1636), and coming to America entered land in Middlesex county, Virginia, May 28, 1674.

George may have spelled his name Gidlow. This is probably the George Gidlow that came to Virginia with his sister Margaret on the "Phillip", under Capitan Richard Morgan. They were Roman Catholics, but to come to Virginia, they had to renounce their church and join the established church. Undoubtedly, they were Royalists and suffered from defeat in England's Civil War. This is probably why George left no records about his Lancashire connections.

The will of George Goodloe: 7 December 1710
