Isle of Wight County, Virginia records of 1672 within the recorded will of ROGER HIGGINS (Wills and Administrations Book 2, Page 113). His executor was his "brother" Robert Hodges, Sr.
A legacy was given to the eldest son of ROBERT HODGES SR., who
was unnamed (Robert Hodges, Jr.); to the second son of ROBERT
HODGES SR., named ELIAS HODGES and to the third son of ROBERT
HODGES SR., named ROGER HODGES.

"adult by 1762. Basil(2) Pearl, son of Robt. Pearl, was appointed co-executor of his father's will in 1765, by which he inherited the residence plantation (not named), negroes George, Bess, Liney, Bill, & Jeney, & a half-share of the residue.*****
(it is possible that he inherited an unrecorded lease for an
un-named lot in Carroll's Manor, for which the early rent rolls
are n__ extant.)
In Mar. 1762 he owed money to the estate of Lawrence Owen in
Fred. Co.******
In June 1767 he owed money to the estate of James Dixon of Fred.
Co.*******.
Apparently not a land-owner, he was a tenant leasing 150 acres
in Carrollton Manor in the period 1768-1771.# As kinsmen, he &
brother Thos. Pearl approved the inventory of the personal
estate of their brother James Pearl of Fred. Co. 18 Apr. 1774.##
By the 1774 will of his brother Daniel Pearl of Frederick-Town
Basil was appointed co-executor.

He may be the Basil Perril who was listed as head of household
in Fred. Co. in 1790, his family composed of one man (himself),
3 boys age under 16, & 5 females, living near Wm. Marshall and
Samuel Perril.*
In the 1800 Census of Fred. Co., Basil Purill was head of
household in District #1, age 45+, with a boy & 2 girls age
10-16, & one boy age under 10.
On 1 Dec. 1790, 42-acre Hobson's Choice was surveyed for Basil
Perill; he transferred it 23 Apr. 1807 to Daniel Fetter of
Skipton District, Allegany Co.***.
By deed dated 2 Apr. 1791, Basil Pearl of Washington Co.
purchased from Peter Devenbach of Washington Co. part of Walnut
Level lying on Old Town Creek below Dry Brnch (present Allegany
Co.).****
Basil, Sr., 15 Mile Creek, 3 Free Persons of Color (No Indians).
For the Basil, Jr., he is in Alleg. Co., Skipton with 8 Free
Persons of Color (No Indians.
