III. Spear, b. 1828, Sergeant of Artillery in Otey Battery, C. S. A.; mortally wounded at the battle of Fayette C. H., Va., 1862.

VI. Mary Spear, b. 1835; d. 13th January, 1891; contributor to the Century and Scribner's Magazines and to the old Southern Review; vice-president and one of the founders of the Woman's Literary Club of Baltimore; authoress of the novels, “Homoselle,” “Suzette,” and “Jack Horner”; m. 1873, Charles TIERNAN of Baltimore, at one time U. S. Consul to Mexico.
