INA M. SHIRER


    McCONNELSVILLE - Ina M. Shirer, 101, of 540 Bald Hill Road, died at 3:20 a.m. Wednesday, Nov. 14, 1990.


    Mrs. Shirer had been a resident of this area since 1905 and was a member of, the Sonora United Methodist Church, where she was a member of the King's Daughter's Sunday school class for 60 years and sang in the church choir until the age of 93. She was a member of Sonora Senior Citizens and in 1989 - at the age of 100 - she cut the ribbon that opened the 1989 Muskingum County Fair.


    Born June 20, 1889, in Newcomerstown, she was a daughter of Ira and Erminnie Pocock Gardner.


    Surviving are four sons, W. Ralph Shirer of Adamsville, Billy J. Shirer of 3410 Boggs Road, Thomas C. Shirer of 855 Deerfield Road and C. Richard Shirer of 65 Granview Ave., South Zanesville; two daughters, Mrs. John (Betty) Ardrey of 2655 Adamsville Road and Alice. R. Shirer of the home; 14 grandchildren; 27 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandson; and severaI step-great-grandchildren.


    In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 40 years, Wilmer J. Shirer, who died Dec. 1, 1947, three sons, Rollin, Howard "Dutch" and Robert Shirer and two infant daughters.


    Calling hours are from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. today and Friday at Bryan Funeral Home, where further arrangements are pending.


    Memorial contributions may be made to Sonora United Methodist Church.
