Donna Black (Shorder)

Donna Black (Shorder), 89, went home to be with the Lord Oct. 9, 1989.



She was born in Cochocton County, where she started her teaching career and lived most of her life in the Akron area. She was a graduate of Kent State University, took special training at Western Reserve University, and was a teacher in special education for the city and county schools for 40 years. She was a member of Happy Time Bowlers, Happy Square Dancers and Handicapped Girl Scouts, and taught Exceptional Class at Grace Baptist Church. She was a tireless worker for over 40 years in the handicapped programs in County. Mrs. Black was preceded in death by daughter, Lauretta Jean, and is survived by her husband, Andrew J.; brother, John Shorder; many nieces and nephews in Ohio and Pennsylvania.



Services will be held at the Billow Fairlawn Chapel, 85 N. Miller Rd. Thursday, at 11 a.m., Rev. Norman Young Prichard and Rev. D. Phillip Hulgin officiating. Interment at Rose Hill Burial Park. Friends may call at the funeral home from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. today. Should friends desire memorials may be made to the Exceptional Sunday, School Class of the Grace Baptist Church, 704 N. Firestone Blvd., Akron 44306; or the Association for Retarded Citizens of Summit County, 611 W. Market St., Akron 44303. (The Billow Fairlawn Chapel, 867-4141.)

Donna Elizabeth Black died Oct. 9, 1989.



This a correction for her name as it appeared Oct. 11, Donna Black (Shorder).



Services were held Thursday, 11 a.m. at the Billow Fairlawn Chapel. A special thank you to Rev. Norman Young Prichard and Rev. D. Phillip Hulgin.
