| Note* | Both Elizabeth and Isabelle McKey's death certificates list their mother as Sarah Huston. Also the 1850 census finds Jane Huston living with the couple. She is more than likely Sarah's mother. At the time of the Hustons emigration to America, the town of Plumbridge was in the civil parish of Badoney Upper. The present church there was built in 1894 and replaced the previous church that was known as Corrick Abbey. The church had originally been built by the Fransiscan Monks but around the time of the Great Famine changed to the Presbyterian/ Church of Ireland. The civil parish of Badoney Upper was also in the Union of Gortin, together with the civil parishes of Badoney Lower and parts of Ardstraw. This means that the records for a birth, marriage, or death from Balix/Belix would be found in the Superintendant Registration District ("SRD") of Gortin. Once Gortin as a Union and and SRD was dissolved, the vital records for these parishes were registered in the SRD of Strabane, with the exception of Badoney Lower which were registered in the SRD of Omagh. | |

| News/Obit* | 26 December 1873 | Obituary, Died. -- While we have been called, from time to time, to record the death of many of our friends, but none perhaps that will be received with greater surprise than the one we shall now briefly notice, that of Mrs. Sarah, wife of John McKee, of Tiverton township, this County, who departed this life, December 10, 1873. It appears that death came to her very unexpected. At two o'clock she was well and took dinner as usual. Soon after, while engaged in performing some duties about the house or yard, she was heard to fall. One of her daughters at once went to her assistance but only to find her mother a lifeless corpse. A physician was summonned, but only gave the sad intelligence that Death had done its work and that heart disease was the cause. Mrs. McKee was 65 years of age. She was born near Plumbridge, Tyrone County, Ireland, and came to Pennsylvania in the year 1828, where she remained a number of years, and came to Ohio in 1852. By profession she was a Presbyterian, butr not having the opportunity of attending the church of her choice, yet she lived an exemplary life. Though taken so suddenly away we trust she is gone to that better land where affliction, pain nor sorrow never comes. She was a dutiful wife, an affectionate mother and a kind friend; which won for her the esteem of those with whom she was associated. Her funeral took place Friday, 12th inst., at 10 o'clock, A. M. Not regarding the rain and bad roads a large number of relatives and friends assembled at the house where they had so often been welcomed, and there took a farewell of her whom they had learned to love: and after appropriate exercises conducted by the writer, she was followed to family cemetery, where her remains were laid by the side of those of her family who had preceded her to the grave. She leaves a husband and six children -- besides a large circle of fiends to mourn her loss. But we trust their loss is her eternal gain. 5 |
