Note*   John was a farmer and owned land on County Road 206 south of Tiverton Center and right next door to Kidder B. Cummings. This land was left to Elizabeth and Letitia after his death.

The 1850 census lists him as 50, the 1860 census has him as 66 and the 1870 census lists him as being 73. The 1880 Ohio Mortality Records lists John as: "McKee, John, age 80, birth place-IRE, birth place father-IRE, birth place mother-IRE, Farmer, Death ocurred in Oct., he was killed by accident, resident 26 years, family can be found in 1880 census for Coshocton Co, Enumeration district 7 (CS7-57 Tiverton Township), family listed as #172." This and the 1850 census would suggest he was born in 1799/1800.

Isabella, Leticia and Elizabeth are noted as being born in Pennsylvania in the 1870 census and Ohio in the 1860 census. Since the family was living in Beaver Co., PA in 1840 and 1850, it is more than likely all the children were born there and that is where John married Sarah.

Also listed is a possible grandaughter, Margaret age 8, who died from Diptheria. (CS7-56) Family 15.

It is likely he was born in Tyrone Co., Ireland possibly in Plumbridge where Sarah Huston, his wife, was from.

News/Obit* 28 October 1879  Death Notice,

Fatal Fall - Mr. John McKee, an old resident and farmer, aged over eighty years, of Tiverton township, was killed in the highway near his home last Tuesday evening, by the wagon upsetting and throwing Mr. McKee violently to the ground. He had been to Coshocton during the day, and was returning home with a load of brick barrells and other articles, and it is supposed that in the darkness he varied from the beaten track in the road enough to upset his wagon and precipitate its driver and contents down a steep bank. A portion of the load fell on the unfortunate man, and it is supposed his death was instantaneous.
