News/Obit* 20 November 2003  Obituary,

In loving memory of Warren E. Hockman. Warren was born on January 6, 1923 in Edgar, Nebraska to Erven and Maud Hockman and passed away November 18, 2003 in Oklahoma City. He graduated from Edgar High School and went on to receive a degree in ministries from the Manhattan Bible College, Manhattan, Kansas. There he met and married Dorothy Lee Weber on January 1, 1944 and they lived a wonderful life of 59 years together. He is survived by daughter Patricia and son in law Donald Penny of Arlington, Texas, son Gary and daughter Linda of Oklahoma City, grandson Jason and granddaughter in law Tiffany Barkley of Arlington, Texas and close family friend Roger Klenke of Oklahoma City. Warren is preceded in death by his parents, brother Frederick Hockman, wife Dorothy Hockman, daughter Mary Ellen Hockman, and daughter Janet Kay Hockman Ward. Warren dedicated his life to the ministry for the Church of Christ for 55 years, ministering to the spiritual and physical needs of many loving and caring friends throughout Nebraska, Kansas, Oklahoma, Texas, Colorado, Wyoming, and Alaska. He established, administered and taught in summer camps for kids throughout the Midwest. He was instrumental in building permanent church buildings for communities across these states. Warren, who never met a stranger, was well respected and well liked within the community. He quickly made new friends and kept them as lifelong friends. His wit and humor greeted his old friends with warmth and a gentle tease put anyone who didn't know him at instant ease. Warren's greatest love was his family and he enjoyed countless camping trips with them across America. He captured his joy of family and life with a passion for photography that started with a Brownie camera from his wife and grew into a lifetime pursuit of the beauty of a simple photograph. His large family provided him ample opportunities to showcase his uncanny ability to fix anything. We will surely miss his wit, his humor and his guidance. The family would like to thank the family at Westwood Church of Christ, the staff at the Fountains of Canterbury and the staff of St. Anthony's Hospital for their help and compassion. Funeral services will be held 11:00 a.m., Friday, Nov. 21, 2003, at Matthews Funeral Home Chapel, 601 N. Kelly, Edmond, Oklahoma. Graveside services will be held 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, November 22, 2003 in Edgar, Nebraska at the Edgar Cemetery. Services are un-der the direction of Matthews Funeral Home. Matthews Funeral Home Locally Owned 601 S. Kelly, Edmond 341-2787
