Rites held for Emma Hockman

Emma Hockman, daughter of Joseph and Mary McIlnay, was born February 1, 1883 in Saline County near Dorchester. She died October 27, 1962 at the age of 79. She attended the rural school in the district in which she grew to womanhood. On December 25, 1902, she was married to Frank M. Hockman. Two children, one daughter and one son, were born to this union. Following their marriage, Mr. and Mrs. Hockman established their home on a farm near Dorchester. In 1947 they retired and moved into Dorchester where she has since resided. Her husband passed away on January 26, 1954 (the obituary has it wrong, June). She joined the Christian Church on November 29, 1901, and of late years had been active in the Dorchester Methodist Church.



Surviving are the daughter, Mrs. Marie Bauer of Crete and the son, Earl Hockman of Dorchester, one grandaughter, Mrs. Marilyn Sokolik of Lincoln and three sisters; Mrs. Della Huff of Omaha; Mrs. Pearl McKee of Crete; and Mrs. Maude Huff of Lincoln.



Besides her husband, Mrs. Hockman was preceded in death by two brothers and one sister.



She belonged to the Rebecca Lodge in Dorchester, the Garden Club, and the Woman's Club.
