| News/Obit* | after 26 January 1954 | Obituary, Frank N. Hockman was born December 30, 1876 in Hancock County, Illinois. He departed this life at his home in Dorchester on January 26, 1954 at the age of 77 years and 27 days. He was the son of Noah and Julia Hockman. Mr. Hockman came to Saline County with his parents in 1878. He continued a resident of the Dorchester vicinity from that time until his death. He was united in marriage to Emma McIlnay on December 25, 1902. Two children were born to this union. Following his marriage, Mr. Hockman established his home near Dorchester. He continued his life's work, a tiller of the soil until his retirement 6 years ago. He was a good farmer and always took pride in the appearance of his home and surroundings. In early life he became a member of the Christian Church. Recently, he has attended the services of the Methodist Church. He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Emma Hockman; his daughter, Mrs. Arnold Bauer; and one son, Earl Hockman. He is survived by his son-in-law, Arnold Bauer; his daughter-in-law; and his grandaughter, Marilyn Hockman; and by four brothers; George Hockman of Cherokee, Oklahoma; Earnest Hockman of Burlington, Colorado; Bert Hockman of Canton, South Dakota; and Erven Hockman of Edgar as well as numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives. One brother, Lewis and his sister, Mrs. Daisy Eller preceded him in deatrh. Funeral services were held at the Methodist Church in Dorchester on Friday, January 29th at 1:30. The pastor, Rev. Otto Quaife was in charge. Music was furnished by Owen Potter and Mrs. Russell Leach wirh Mrs. Carl Weber at the organ. Casket bearers were Dr. W.J. Fruede, Vivian, Kenny, and Henry Heers, Linus Schmidt, Herman Schulz, and Charles Parks. Interment was in the Dorchester Cemetery. Among relatives from a distance attending the funeral were: Mr. and Mrs. A.E. hockman and son Willard of Burlington, Colorado; Bert Hockman of Canton, South Dakota; Mr. and Mrs. Erven Hockman, son Frederick and wife of Edgar; Mr. and Mrs. Otto Gliesburg of Hastings; C.D. McIlnay of Omaha; Mrs. Al McKee and Margurite; Mrs. F.M. Woods; Mr. and Mrs. Louie Schmersol of Lincoln; Mr. and Mrs. O.B. McIlnay; Mrs. Frank Weilage; Mrs. Orin McIlnay and Marilyn of Crete; Leland McIlnay of Colby, Kansas; Mrs. Nellie McIlnay; and Mrs. Erma Bennett of Alexandria. |
