Carson H. Hanks Died in
Zanesville Hospital Nove. 1

Carson H. Hanks, aged 75, died in the Bethesda Hospital, in Zanesville Tuesday morning, Nov. 1, from the effects of a serious injury which he sustained nearly three weeks ago when struck by an unknown hit-skip auto driver on the street near his home. Mr. Hanks had been serious since the accident, in which both legs were broken and also serious bruises suffered. Not being of a robust constitution, but little hope was entertained for his recovery from the time of the accident. He had suffered greatly and had been kept under the influence of an anesthetic during his confinement to the hospital.

The deceased was the son of the late Mr. and Mrs. John D. Hanks and had been a resident of Adamsville and Zanesville during his entire life. For thirty-five years he was engaged in the flour milling business here with his father, later assuming entire control of the enterprise. For five years prior to the advent of the automobile Mr. Hanks was engaged in the livery business in Zanesville in partnership with his brother, the late Homer Hanks. Since the disposal of his livery business, he has made his home in Adamsville and was engaged in farming.

Mr. Hanks will long be remembered by his associates and countless friends here because of his genial kindly nature, upright conduct and the wholesome life that he lived. Everybody was his friend wherever he was known, and his passing has caused a feeling of universal sorrow in the entire community. He was a member of Delphian Lodge, K. of P. of Adamsville, the M. E. church and Eureka Grange.

The deceased is survived by his widow of the home and one son, Ralph Hanks of Zanesville. He is also survived by one sister, Mrs. C. D. Horn of Dresden. Funeral services will be held in Adamsville Thursday afternoon at 2 o'clock. Burial will be made in New Hope Cemetery.

Appeared in the Adamsville Register, Wednesday, 2 Nov 1932
