Note*   This information was found in J. F. Everhart's "History of Muskingum County, Ohio".

"Mrs. Sarah A. Carver a native of Muskingum county, born May 9, 1827, and the daughter of Millar D. and Nancy A. Hannen, who were originally from Bucks county, Penn., but who moved to this county. The father died here in 1861 and the mother in 1863. They were the parents of one child besides Mrs. Adams, Mary, now deceased. The father was a farmer. "

The 1875 Atlas of Muskingum CO., OH gives the following:

"On the 18th day of March, 1868, he was united in marriage with Mrs Sarah A Whitcraft a very fine looking worthy widow lady of the same township. This lady is the daughter of Mr Millard D Carver who was one of the early settlers of Ohio, he has been deceased many years, leaving but two children. Mrs Adams is the sole survivor of her family, her father, mother, sister and her first husband all are numbered with the dead. Her married relations with Mr Adams seems to be one of the most happy, kind.emented by mutual love and interest. She never had any children of her own, but noblysupplies the place of mother to the children of her husband, who appreciate, love and honor her as their best friend."

The Muskingum County Marriage records list Sarah Ann Carver & John Whitcraft, married 21 Feb 1850. The marriage records then list Sarah Ann Whitecroft and Wm. A. Adams, 15 Mar 1868.

It was inferred that her maiden name was Hannen but that was her mother's maiden name.
