Burial* December 1892  New Hope Lutheran Church Cemetery, Salem Twp., Muskingum Co., OH, Although she is supposed to be buried in New Hope Lutheran cemetery, her grave is not listed nor that of Jacon. There is a Jacob and Mary in the Werts section that has dates very close to Mary's.2,7

MRS. JACOB BAINTER DEAD

An Aged and Afflicted Woman's Suffering
Brought to an End


    Mary Bainter, daughter of Jacob and Elizabeth Gaumer, was born Nov. 21, 1821, and departed this life Dec. 2, 1892, aged 71 years and 21 days. She was united in marriage to Jacob Bainter in the year 1840, Nov 1. To this union was born four children, two girls and two boys, all of whom still live to mourn the loss of mother. She was a faithful member of the New Hope Evangelical Lutheran church for 51 years. She was much afflicted for a number of years, yet she endured the afflictions patiently. Her death was calm and peaceful. Her husband and all her children being at her bedside in the last moments.


    The funeral took place yesterday at Otsego and the services were conducted by Rev. H. K. Gebhart. The remains were then taken to the New Hope cemetery and interred.
