ELIZABETH VINSEL DEAD

Oldest Citizen of Adams Township
Called to Her Final Rest

Mrs. Elizabeth Vinsel, widow of the late Harrison Vinsel, died at her home in Adams township at 2:30 o'clock Saturday morning, November 12, 1921, after a long illness of cancer and other afflictions due to her advanced age.

Mrs. Vinsel was the daughter of Solomon and Matilda Wenner and was born in Salem township, Muskingum county, O., Mar. 9, 1832, and was aged 89 years, 8 months and 3 days when called to her final rest. In 1836 her parents moved to Adams township after having acquired the farm where her death occurred and where nearly all of her long life was spent. August 22, 1850, she was united in marriage with George Harrison Vinsel who died Apr. 24, 1907. Eleven children were born to this union, nine of whom are still living: S. F. and J. W. Vinsel, of Adams township; Mrs. Alice Buker, of Monroe township; A. R. of Wills Creek; C. O. of Detroit, Mich.; Anna V. Jordan, of this village; G. T. of near Coshocton; A. A. of Zanesville and Bertha V. King, of near Dresden. Wm. K. died at the age of 10 years and Matilda after reaching womanhood and becoming the wife of S. T. Hanks.

Twenty-two grandchildren and nineteen great-grandchildren also survive her.

Mrs. Vinsel was a member of the New Hope Lutheran church, having united with that denomination in her girlhood life. She was active in her church work and faithful in attendance, witnessing many changes in the three quarters of a century of her worship there. She was also active in social life and community affairs and was always ready to contribute to the welfare of her neighbors and friends.

Funeral services were conducted at the New Hope Lutheran church Monday afternoon by Rev. L. S. Miller and the remains were laid to rest in the cemetery at that place. H. E. Shirer was in charge of the burial

Her six sons acted as pall bearers and conveyed the remains to their final resting place.
