News/Obit* after 10 June 1918  Killed At Salt Lake City

Frank Shirer, son of Mr. and Mrs. W. S. Shirer, was killed in an automobile accident at Salt Lake City, Utah, Tuesday, June 4, 1918. He was born and raised in Adamsville and is still well remembered by a number of the citizens of this village. He left Adamsville about 26 years ago. His parents who are now residents of Newark, Ohio, survive him. Dr. J. G. Shirer, Miss Macre Shirer and Roy and FLay Shirer, all of Newark, are brothers and sister of the unfortunate man.

Mr. and Mrs. C. H. Hanks, Mr. G. H. Shrigley and Mrs. F. G. Dean of this village went to Newark Monday to attend the funeral, the remains having been brought to that city for burial.

News/Obit 11 June 1918  Funeral for Frank M. Shirer

The funeral services for Frank Manly Shirer, son of Mr. and Mrs. W. S. Shirer of Linden Avenue, who was killed in an automobile accident in Salt Lake City a week ago today,were conducted this morning at 10 o'clock at the Shirer home, Rev. L. C. Sparks officiating.

The remains arrived yesterday from Utah the body reposing in a casket arouns which was entwined an American Flag with the Elks emblem. Mr. Shirer having been a past exalted ruler of the Salt Lake City lodge. Pubic funeral services were held there before the remains were sent to Newark.

Interment was made in Cedar Hill cemetery, Immediate relatives acting as pall bearers while the honorary pall bearers of Newark Lodge of Elks were R. W. Smith, Walter Daugherty, Abe Thomas, J. F. Cherry, Fred S. Wilson, Chas. D. Lake and Mandel Brashears.
