Maxine Schmeltz, 82 of 68237 Walnut Road, Walkerton, Indiana passed away at 8:10 a.m. Sunday September 3, 2000 at the St. Joseph Medical Center, in Mishawaka.



She was born June 17, 1918, at Etna Green, Indiana to Charles and Ruth (Allen) Clingenpeel. She was a life long resident of the North Liberty, and Walkerton area. In June of 1981 Mrs. Schmeltz retired from the John Glenn School Corp. where she was a cook.



On September 23, 1943 at Brownsville, Texas she married Linder W.



Schmeltz. He survives, along with a daughter, Theresa Auman of St.



Mary's, Ohio, a son, Allen (Colleen) Schmeltz of Walkerton, Indiana.



Three grandchildren; Laura McKesson of Walkerton, Indiana, Jayson Auman of St. Mary's Ohio, and Andrew Schmeltz of Walkerton, Indiana, and three great-grandchildren. Other survivors include a sister, Marjorie Wolff of Union Mills, Indiana a brother Howard Clingenpeel of North Liberty, Indiana.



She was preceded in death by four brothers, Delbert, Carl, Lee, and Donald (Mike) Clingenpeel.



Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. on Wednesday at the Walkerton United Methodist church. Friends may call on Tuesday, September 5, 2000 at the Nusbaum-Elkin Funeral Home from 2-4 and 6-9 p.m. They may call 1 hour prior to the services Wednesday at the church. Burial will be at the Woodlawn Cemetery at Walkerton



Mrs. Schmeltz was a member of the Walkerton United Methodist church, Orville Easterday American Legion Post #189 Ladies Auxiliary, Chapeaux Salon #156 of the 8 & 40 of St. Joseph County.



The family has requested memorials to be given to the Walkerton United Methodist Church.
