DIED IN TEXAS


    Wilbur Shirer, son of Q. A. and Susan Shirer, Died at El Paso, Tex., January 23, 1905. He was born at Adamsville, O., 1864, and moved with his parents to Russel, Lucas county, Iowa, in 1870. He was married to a Miss Graham in 1887. His wife died in 1894. He was married again in 1896. He leaves a widow and two children and the former wife's child, one having preceded him to the grave. he also leaves three sisters, three brothers and an aged father and mother to mourn his demise.


    Mr. Shirer's home was at Ridgway, Mo., having been in the employ of the C.B.Q.R.R. Co. serving in the capacity of station agent and telegraph operator at different points before moving to the above town at which place he still held the same position so long as his health would permit.


    A few weeks prior to his death he and his family went to El Paso hoping to recuperate his health. Not long after he went, his disease took such a grave turn that his brothers Thomas and John, followed him and was with him at the time of his death. his disease was tuberculosis of the throat. The body was brought back to Russell to the home of his parents for interment. The funeral was held on the 30th day of January from the Presbyterian church at 11 o'clock a.m. services being conducted by Rev. McGaughty who used as the basis of his remarks "Jesus wept." A large concourse of friends and acquaintences was in attendance. The body was interred in the Russell cemtery beside his wife and child.
