News/Obit* 15 July 1902  Obituary,

The death of John L. Gaumer mentioned in the Register last week was very sudden and unexpected. About a week before his death he was taken to the hospital in Zanesville suffering from typhoid fever. He had been working in Zanesville and when taken sick his condition was such that it was not considered safe to bring him to his home in this place.

The deceased was the son of Mr. and Mrs. Lyman Gaumer and was born in Salem township, Muskingum county, Ohio February 14, 1854 and was at the time of his death (July 8, 1902) a little more than 48 years of age. He was married to Alice A. Hankins, of Coshocton county June 5, 1875 and seven children were the posterity of this union. The children are still living and with their mother mourn the death of an affectionate father and husband.

The remains were brought to this place Tuesday evening and the funeral was held on Thursday in the Baptist church. Rev. J.S. Eaton had charge of the services. The body was interred in the cemetery of that place.

Appeared in the Adamsville Register, July 15, 1902
