They brought two wagons; one pulled by horses, and the other by oxen named Beer and Brandy. The journey took 21 days. They settled on a farm 6 miles southwest of Beecher City, Illinois. They lived there for one year, then purchased a 120 acre farm from Warren Reed for $1000 in gold coin. This farm was 3 miles west of Beecher City. Thomas Boyd Taylor recalls the property being 2 and one half miles west and one quarter mile north of Beecher City and one and one quarter mile north of the Greenland Baptist Church.
