ZANESVILLE -- James Virgil Wisecarver, 84, of Zanesville, passed away at 11:45 a.m. Sunday, Dec. 7, 2003, at Sunnyview Nursing Home following an extended illness.



The Snouffer Funeral Home, 1150 W. Military Road, has been entrusted to help the Wisecarver family.

James Virgil (Buck Wheat) Wisecarver, 84

ZANESVILLE -- James Virgil (Buck Wheat) Wisecarver, 84, of Zanesville, passed away at 11:45 a.m. Sunday, Dec. 7, 2003, at Sunnyview Nursing Home, after an extended illness.



He was born April 25, 1919, in Sonora, to Harold and Nancy Jane Marshall Wisecarver. He was a truck driver for Country Mark, attended Salem M.E. Church in Sonora, was a member of the Moose Lodge and an avid NASCAR fan always cheering for the (King) Richard Petty. He also served our country and protected our freedom by being a Army veteran during World War II.



Surviving are two daughters, Fran (Gary) Cochran of Duncan Falls and Connie (Charles) Shaeffer of Zanesville seven grandchildren, Cindy Miller, Kelly Stansberry, Eric Shaeffer, Tammy Sprouse, Patrick Moore, Kelly Cochran and Kristopher Cochran seven great-grandchildren, Troy Harmer, Aaron Miller, Abbey Miller, Paige Moore, Stacy Sprouse, Johnny Sprouse and Tiffany Stansberry.



He was preceded in death by his parents his wife, Sarah Frances Levey Wisecarver, who passed away Jan. 3, 1997 two brothers, Vance and Thurman Wisecarver and a sister, Mary Dennis.



Calling hours will be held from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. today at The Snouffer Funeral Home, 1150 W. Military Road.



Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Dec. 10, 2003, in the Snouffer Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Richard D. Thompson officiating. Burial will follow in Selm Cemetery, Norfield Road, with full military honors provided by George Selsam VFW Post 1058.
