Death* 30 March 1938  At Home, Franklin Twp., Coshocton Co., OH1,5,2
News/Obit* 31 March 1938  Obituary,

G. T. Vinsel, president of the Coshocton County Agricultural Society and recognized as one of the most progressive leaders of county rural activities, died from effects of a paralytic stroke at 6:30 p.m. Wednesday March 31 at his home on Coshocton Route #4. He was 67. Undergoing a major operation at City Hospital six weeks ago he apparently was on the road to recovery, when he suffered the first of two strokes Sunday at his home. Another stroke followed at 6:10 yesterday evening and he died several minutes later. The first stroke affected his vocal chords and he was unable to speak until his death. Mr. Vinsel was a veteran worker in the promotion of county agricultural activities and had also taught in Coshocton County schools for a number of years. He had been a member of the Coshocton County Agricultural Society for the past 16 years, and was instrumental in building up the agriculture department of the Fair, of which he was director, to a place where it is considered one of the best in the state. An idealist in operating his farm in Franklin Township, Mr. Vinsel was a charter member of the County Farm Bureau and served as one of its first directors in 1920. He was also active in grange work and had been lecturer of Plainfield Grange for the past 16 years. He had held practically all the positions in the organization. He also served two terms on the County Board of Education, retiring January 1 and representing the Fair Board on the community stadium promotional committee. For the past four years he had been County representative of the Cambridge Production Credit Association, a subsidiary of the Federal Farm Load Association. He was born December 4, 1870 in Adamsville, Muskingum County, and a son of George and Elizabeth Vinsel. He was a member of New Hope Lutheran church in Muskingum County during his youth. Later he transferred to St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, Franklin Twp. until his death. On December 2, 1896, he married Cora E. Simon, who died on May 8, 1927. Mr. Vinsel received his early education in Young America school in Muskingum County. He later attended Lebanon University and was graduated from there in 1895. He taught school for 21 years, two years which were spent in Iowa and the remainder in Coshocton County. Surviving are three daughters: Mrs. Ulysses Lawrence, of Canton; Mrs. E. N. Bair of the home and Mrs. Francis Hackenbracht of West Lafayette, Ohio, a son Hermas Vinsel of Coshocton and four grandchildren. Also surviving are three brothers, John Vinsel of Adamsville, Alva and Curtis Vinsel both of Zanesville, and two sisters, Mrs. Ann Jordan of Adamsville, and Mrs. Virgil King of Dresden. Interment was in the St. Paul’s Lutheran Church Cemetery.
