    Clarence Leland White, 24, seaman first class of 811 Durbin Drive, is serving aboard a destroyer of the Atlantic Fleet. White, son of Mr. and Mrs. Charles V. White, Route 5, Zanesville attended a radar school at Virginia Beach, Virginia, before his present duty. He wears the American Theater Ribbon and the European-African-Middle Eastern Theater Ribbon with one star, for participating in the Normandy Invasion. Before entering the service he was employed by the American Rolling Mill.

    Clarence Leland White, 48, of White Cottage, a sheet welder with Armco Steel Corporation, died at 7:50 am Sunday (April 13) at Good Samaritan Hospital where he was admitted Saturday. He had been ill eight years. he was born August 25, 1920 in Salem Township a son of the late Charles V. White and Mrs. Florence Virts White of Zanesville Route 2. He spent most of his life in the Adamsville vicinity and moved to White Cottage 13 years ago. Mr. White was a member of Calvary Baptist Church on Moxahala Avenue. He served with the Navy in World War II. Surviving are his widow, Virginia Mae Wilson White, whom he married 31 August 31, 1941; his mother; a daughter Miss Sabra Jane White of the home; four sons, Ronald L. White of 472 Stewart Street, James V. White with the Army at Fort Knox, Kentucky, Robert C. White with the Army in Germany and William K. White of the home; two grandchildren; three sisters, Mrs. Eileen Lane of Zanesville Route 8 and Mrs. Erma Parry of Route 1, Mrs. Verna Donelson of Adamsville Route 1. The body is at the Shirer and Son Funeral Home in Adamsville and will be taken to the family residence in White Cottage where friends may call after noon today. Services will be held at 2 pm, Wednesday at Calvary Baptist Church with Pastor Walter Yeager officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Park. The body will be taken to the church an hour before services. Pallbearers are Ronald, James, Robert and William White, Roger Bailey and Robert White.
