According to the 1940 census, Mary is living with her parents but is identified as M. Helen Lovejoy and has a 2 month old son, Leslie J. Lovejoy. She was first married to Leslie Walton Lovejoy, the son of General Scott Lovejoy. When she married Eugene Amore, he adopted Leslie James as his son and they changed his name to James G. Amore.1

Lt. Col. and Mrs. Glenn R. Johnson. Fairfield, announce the marriage of their daughter, Mary Helen, to Staff Sgt. Eugene Amore, formerly of this city. The ceremony took place Friday evening, Dec. 3, at the home of the bridegroom's parents, Mr. and Mrs. Lloyd Amore, 1630 Ridge av., Zanesville.

The bride wore a powder blue suit with British tan accessories. An orchid formed her corsage.

Major Rollo Amore of the Cambridge Salvation Army, uncle of the bridegroom, officiated. Wedding guests included Lt. Col. and Mrs. Glenn R. Johnson, Mr. and Mrs. Lloyd Amore, John House, Coshocton, Mr, and Mrs. Bervil Amore. Pleasant Valley, Cpl. Norman Amore, Camp Pickett, Va., Sgt. William Amore, Camp Atterbury, Ind.

The bride is a graduate of Bath high school, Fairfield. She has been employed at headquarters air service command, Patterson field.

The bridegroom is a graduate of Coshocton high school and has been in the armed forces for the past four years. He recently returned from overseas.

Sgt. and Mrs. Amore will make their home after Dec. 10 at Milwaukee, Wis., where the former is stationed at Gen. Billy Mitchell field.

A Jury of six men and three women was seated this morning in the Common Pleas courtroom of Judge Herman J. Weber to hear a $90,000 Alienation of affections suit involving Mrs. Mary H. Amore, 50, of 4537 Cherry Hill Dr., Beavercreek Twp., the plaintiff and Mrs, Dorothy Helman, of 562S Bayside Dr., Dayton. Judge Paul Riley of Clinton County presides.

Mrs. Amore charges Mrs. Helman with alienation of the affections of Eugene Amore, her estranged husband, beginning in 1970.

damage claim

Six of the eight jurors in a $90,000 alienation of affections trial heard two days in Common Pleas Court before Judge Paul K. Riley of Clinton County returned a verdict yesterday for the defendant.

Mary H. Amore of 4537 Cherry Hill Dr, Beavercreek Twp., had sued Mrs. Dorothy Helman of 5628 Bayside Dr., Dayton, claiming she stole the affection of her husband, of 29 years, Eugene, beginning,in December of 1970.

The jury deliberated about an hour and found for Mrs. Helman.

AMORE, Mary Helen (Johnson), age 87, of Beavercreek, passed away Friday, May 1, 2009. She was born September 21, 1921 in Anderson, Indiana. She was preceded in death by her parents, Col. Glen R. Johnson, Sr. and Vesta Wilt Johnson; brother, Glen Roy Johnson, Jr.; sisters, Genevieve Vesta Steffen and Lois Evelyn Johnson; son, James G. Amore. She is survived by her special friend, Michael Malavich; daughters, Michele (Bill) Broughton and Wendy (Charles) Littrell all of Texas; grandchildren, Patrick Newhouse, Penny (Shannon) Cornelius, Brian Amore, Shannon Sumner, Teresa (Andy) McLelland, James Sumner, and Jasmine Littrell; great-grandchildren, Ryan, Madison, and Patrick Newhouse, Christopher Sumner and Aidan McLelland; nieces, Judy (Dan) Dalton, Jane (Virgil) Morris, and Barbara (Gary) Coop; nephews, Jack (Judy) Steffen and Rick Johnson; many great-nieces and great-nephews. She graduated from Bath Township High School in 1939. She was a member of Trinity United Church of Christ for over 60 years. Through the years she was employed by Apple Mfg, American Thermal Institute, Greene County, Fairborn Senior Center, and Jack’s Aquarium. She enjoyed ballroom and square dancing, sewing, needlework, cooking, reading, and watching sports. She received her private pilots license in the 1950’s while living in Japan. She has resided in the Greene County area since 1923 except for 51/2 years in Japan and some time in Zanesville, Columbus, Cincinnati, Covington, KY, Great Falls, MT, and Panama City, FL. She was a member of Parents Without Partners 210, Ladies Auxiliary FOE Aerie #321, Twin Base Square Dancing Club. She served on the church council and was past president and was part of the Women’s Guild. She also served as Girl Scout leader. A celebration of Life is planned for Wednesday, May 6, 2009 at 11:00 a.m. at Trinity United Church of Christ in Fairborn, Ohio.
