News/Obit* 15 May 2005  ABBEVILLE — Jamie Lee Matthews and Jonathan McKinley Smith, both of Greenwood, were married at 5 p.m. Saturday at The Hill House in Abbeville. The Rev. Charles Sperry of Greenwood officiated.

Wedding music was presented by vocalists Frankie Fern of Ware Shoals, Willie Forrest and Kimberly Leverette, both of Greenwood. The bride is the daughter of Ron and Marcia Kelley, and Greg and Shelley Matthews, all of Greenwood. She is the granddaughter of Shirley Matthews of Greenwood and the late Oscar Matthews, and the late Ray and Mary Irby. She is a 2001 graduate of Greenwood High School, and attended the University of South Carolina at Spartanburg, and Piedmont Tech. She is employed by Turning Point Women’s Center in Abbeville. The bridegroom is the son of Anita Collins of Greenwood and the late Kenneth Smith. He is the grandson of Marcia McKinley of Newton Falls, Ohio and the late John McKinley, and the late Claire Smith. He is a 1995 graduate of Ninety Six High School and a 1999 graduate of Piedmont Tech, where he received a degree in criminal justice. He is employed by the Greenwood City Police Department. Jennifer M. Wright of Greenwood, the bride’s twin sister, was matron of honor. Bridesmaids were Amber Boswell of Abbeville, the bride’s sister, Shari A. Griffin of Hoschton, Ga., the bridegroom’s sister, Julie Williams of Greenwood, the bride’s cousin, Amy Miller and Elizabeth Miller, both of Hodges. Courtney Boswell of Abbeville was flower girl. The bride wore a white strapless gown of Italian matte satin featuring an embroidered satin bodice adorned with Swarovski crystals. The organza overskirt edged with satin bias trim opened over a court train, with satin covered buttons and a dainty bore accenting the back. She wore a pearl tiara attached to a waist length veil of illusion.

She carried a hand-tied bouquet of pure white Vendela roses and lavender blue hyacinth blossoms accented with sheer periwinkle ribbon. Attendants wore periwinkle matte satin spaghetti strap gowns featuring A-line skirts with a side wrap and a brush train. They each carried a single long stemmed white Vendela rose accented with sheer periwinkle ribbon. Jody Stewart of Abbeville was best man. Groomsmen were Bud Bembry of Jennings, Fla., Bradley Griffin of Hoschton, Ga., the bridegroom’s brother-in-law, Dr. Scott Smith, the bridegroom’s brother, and Jonathan Williams, the bride’s cousin, both of Greenwood, and Steve Smith of Charlotte, N.C., the bridegroom’s brother. Justin Matthews of Greenwood, the bride’s brother, was usher. Christian Griffin of Hoschton, Ga., the bridegroom’s nephew, was ringbearer. The bride’s parents were hosts of a reception at The Hill House. The couple will live in Greenwood., Principal=Jonathan McKinley Smith1
