Note*   Verrna was born Verona Poharesky in Münkacs, Hungary. It is located in the foothills of the Carpathian Mountains in what today is the Ukraine and is known as Mukachevo. The borders changed many times due to various politcal upheavels and the land has belonged at times to Germany, Austria, Czechoslavakia, Romainia, USSR, Uklraine and Hungary. The bulding she was born in is on a hill above the town and is now used as an agricultural college. During her teens she worked in a cigar factory in Vanpalanka. She was engaged to be married to a boy there and he was going to follow her to America but never came.

She arrived in 1921, and came to Canton, Ohio. On her passport her name is listed as Vera Pohàreckà. The name is proceeded by Hecna. The 'c' has an umlaut over it.

Her journey to the United States started in Müncacs, Hungary her home town and proceeded through various checkpoints as follows in chronological order and containing the marks identifying the location:

The place of oriin is listed as Czechoslovakia and Slavic is her given as her race. Her last permanent residence was given as Palanok which is a larger city near the current location of Munkachevo in the Ukraine.
