Before 150 guests Saturday in the Chapcl of the Chimes of the First Baptist Church, Miss Evelyn Van Wy became the bride of Charles Fox. Tbe double ring ceremony was performed at 8 p.m. by Dr. B. C. Barrett.
The bride recited vows in a navy blue taffeta costume with white accessories. She carried a small white Bible with baby orchids.
Matron of honor was Mrs. W. R. Struble, sister of the bride, who wore a blue taffeta dress with pink accessories. Her flowers were pink carnations.
White tapers and crysanthemums were used to appoint the chapel. Miss Marilyn Brobst. organist, accompanied a quartet comprised of John Sloat, Burr Wallace, Fred Newburg and Forrest Newburg.
Presiding at the guest book was Miss Judith Mills. Carl Van Wy gave his daughter in marriage. Best man was Carl Van Wy, Jr., brother of the bride, with Andy Graf and William Kitchen ushering.
A reception was held in the church hall, which was decorated with white chrysanthemums. Assisting were Mrs. William Kitchen, Mrs. Eleanor Nehring, Mrs. A. C. Graf, Mrs. Thomas J. Echenique, Mrs. Carl Van Wy, Jr., Miss Eva Richardson, Miss Phyllis White, Miss Dorothy Cooper and Miss Mary Grundt. Mrs. Sadie Mills and Mrs. George C. Cook, aunts of the bride, Poured.
The Bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Cark Van Wy, Sr., of 614 Monteret Street. She attended Bakersfield High School and College and the University of California in Los Angeles. She is a member of th Y. W. C. A. board, Leaugue of Women Voters, and is president of the Business Girls Club.
Mr. Fox, who is the son of Mr. and Mrs. A. W. Fox of Alameda, is employed as a salesman by Sears Roebuck & Company. He was educated in Alameda schools and the University of California. He is a member of the Bakersfield Elks Club.
Folowwing the honeymoon trip to Apple Valley Inn, the couple will be at home January 18 at 1943 Learer street, apartment 2. For travelling the new Mrs. Fox chose a dubonset gabardine suit with white accessories and coat. She had a corsage of white carnations.
Mrs. Van Wy wore a black dress with white accessories. Mrs. Fox wore a blue dress with white accessories.
Out-of-town guests included Miss Dorothy McAdam of Palmdale; Miss K. Devine of Coaltings; Jack Nikkel of Shafter and Mr. and Mrs. A. W. Fox of Alameda.
The bridal party was entertained at a buffet supper following the rehearsal Friday evening at the home of the bride's brother-in-law and sister, Mr. and Mrs. W. R. Struble, Jr., of 1613 Crestview Drive.
Mrs. Struble was assisted by Mrs. George Cook and daughter Miss June Cook, and Mrs. Carl Van Wy, Sr. The table was colorful with gay pottery dishes and indoor plantings. Mr. and Mrs. A. W. Fox of Alameda, parents of the bridegroom were special guests.
