Mrs. Shirer was a clerk for the WIC Clinic at Good Samaritan Medical Center and a member of the South Zanesville United Methodist Church. Born Sept. 11, 1926, in Zanesville, she was a daughter of Ruth Hutton Smith of 437 Schaum Ave. and the late Virgil Smith. In addition to her mother, surviving are one son, Douglas Shirer of 2615 Maysville Pike; two daughters, Vickie Pletcher of Owego, N.Y. and Deborah Stottsberry of 514 Schaum Ave.; one brother, Ronald Smith of Broadvue Circle; and nine grandchildren. She was preceded in death by one brother, Kenneth Smith. Calling hours are from 7 to 9 p.m. today and 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Saturday at Bolin Funeral Home.
