Biography*   John Hall, of Co. A, enrolled Oct. 1, 1861 in Angola by Capt. Kinney as a Private; mustered in Oct. 20, 1861 in Ft. Wayne by Lt. Stansbury at age 20. He was 5' 10" tall, dark complexion, grey eyes, and black hair. Born Jan. 17, 1841 in Wayne Co., OH, employed as a laborer, single, resident of Metz P.O., in Steuben Co., IN. Discharged due to cough, pain in both sides of chest following measles, chronic pneumonia and diarrhea on Aug. 29, 1862 in St. Louis, MO with rank of Private. Notes: Came to Steuben Co., IN. 1848. Sick in Evansville, IN, Hospital Jan. and Feb. 1862; sent down river on hospital boat Apr. 2, 1862. Left sick near Corinth, MS, and sent upriver on Stephen Decatur to Evansville Jun. 1862. Had chronic diarrhea and been off duty 170 out of last 180 days. Entered Co. A, 129th IN Jan. 10, 1864 as Corporal; mustered out Aug. 29, 1865 as Sergt. Married Sarah Utley. Resident of Metz 1880-1888 then Millersburg, Elkhart Co., IN, where he died Oct. 30, 1898. Buried there in Brown Cemetery, Row 8/#37.
