Rail Conductor Elderly Woman Are Killed Here

Police Seeking Drivers of Vehicles Involved

Two pedestrians were killed when struck by automobiles on local streets during the past week. In both instances the drivers of the vehicles involved failed to come to a stop. police reported.

Mrs Emma Bush, 74, of 2112 West, died Thursday February 8, in Little Company of Mary hospital of injuries suffered the day before when she walked into the path of a truck at 111th Street and Hoyne avenue. Police said the truck was pushing a stalled car at the time and the driver went on without stopping possibly unaware that he had struck Mrs Bush who walked into the side of the vehicle.

Apparently the victim of a hit-and-run driver, Edward D. Mullen, 68, of 320 West 106th place, died at 1:30 p.m. Thursday, February 8, in Roseland Community hospital where he was taken after he was found lying unconscious in the street in front of 10349 Wentworth about 7 o'clock last Wednesday evening. Police believe he was struck by an auto as he was on his way home from work. He had been employed at a conductor by the Illinois Central railroad for the past 27 years.
