| News/Obit* | 5 March 2004 | DEXTER, JR. OBERT C. Capt. Robert C. Dexter, Jr., USN Ret., age 88, residence of the Regency at South Shore, formerly of San Diego, Calif. died Thursday, March 4, 2004, at Select Specialty Hospital after a brief illness. He was born in San Juan, Puerto Rico on August 13, 1915, the son of the late Robert C. and Bertha Wolford Dexter. He just recently moved to Erie, Pa. from San Diego, Calif. He was a graduate of the U.S. Naval Academy class of 1939, and received his MBA from Columbia University. He retired from the U.S. Navy after 33 years of service. He was also employed at United States International University-San Diego for 12 years. He was preceded in death by his wife, Louise Melling Dexter; one sister: Mary Garrison; one brother: Richard Dexter. He is survived by two sons: Robert C. Dexter III and his wife, Marlene, of Erie, Pa.; Stephen J. Dexter and his wife, Ruth, of Walnut Creek, Calif., one brother John Dexter of Oklahoma City, Okla. Five grandchildren, two great-grandchildren, and several nieces and nephew also survive. No visitation. Private interment. Arrangements were handled by the Dusckas-Martin Funeral Home., Inc. 4216 Sterrettania Rd.
