News/Obit 22 September 2010  LaVon M. Little

LaVon M. Little, 91, of Meridian, passed away Wednesday, September 22, 2010 at a local care center and is once again with her loving husband Forrest.
altGraveside services will be held at 1:00 P.M. on Monday, September 27, 2010 at the Morris
Hill Cemetery in Boise, Idaho. Services are under the direction of Accent Funeral Home.

LaVon was the fourth child born to Samuel J. and Edna (Fullmer) Merrill in Arco, Idaho April 11, 1919. She was raised in Arco and graduated from Arco High School. Her wild days in Arco were the source of many funny stories she shared with her family throughout her life. After graduation she moved to Boise and attended beautician school. Upon getting her license she worked in a Boise salon for 4 years. During World War II she worked in the Remington Arms Plant in Salt Lake City making ammo for the Armed Services. When V.J. Day was declared she returned to Arco and opened a Beauty Shop with a friend. There she fell in love and married Forrest Little of Howe, Idaho on October 10, 1947. They moved to Montana where they owned and operated cattle ranches in Dillon and then Toston before returning to Idaho and eventually settling in Blackfoot. She owned and operated a hair salon until she went to work for American Potato Company in 1961. Upon retiring in 1982 they moved to Meridian where they resided until their deaths. LaVon’s primary interest was her family and fishing with her husband. She was an avid gardener and could always be found in her gardens or greenhouse. Her spunky nature and contagious laugh will be sorely missed.
LaVon is survived by her children, Larry (Judy) Little of Boise, John (Monika) Little of Meridian, and Debra (Larry) Bowman also of Meridian, grandchildren: Brandie Bowman of Meridian, Doug Bowman, Christy Little, and Andrea (Jason) Bortles all of Boise, Jason (Jennifer) Little, and Becky (Terry) Brown both of Indianapolis, Starrlene Hensley of Meridian and 11 great-grandchildren as well as numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, parents, brother, and two sisters. The family would especially like to thank Tina Lima and Scott Jenkins and the rest of the staff at Diamond View Care Center for the loving care and support LaVon received during her stay. Memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association or the American Cancer Association.3
