News/Obit* after 19 December 1931  Charles Homer Royce was born in Pennsylvania, April 23, 1860, and passed away in this city Dec. 19, 1931. In 1880 he was united in marriage with Mary Gaumer and to this union were born 7 children, two of whom preceded their father to the Great Beyond. The surviving children are as follows: John A. Royce, Mae Coons, and Jas. A. Royce of Des Moines; Laura Jeffrey of Long Beach, CAl.; and Eva Keller of this city. At the age of 15, he was converted and united with the Baptist Church. Later on, he united with the Church of Christ at Murray, Iowa. In this faith he lived and died. He became a member of I. O. O. F. more than 40 years ago in Murray, Iowa, having filled the office of Noble Grand of that chapter, at the time of his decease, he was a past Grand of Highland Park Lodge No. 612 and also a member of Mayflower Rebekah Lodge.

Besides his sorrowing companion and children, he leaves 11 grandchildren and one great grandchild and a host of friends and acquaintances, who loved and respected this good man. Mr. Royce was an excellent neighbor and a man among men. He was always kind and considerate to all who were in need. He has lived a good life and his work remains.
Funeral was from Lilly's Funeral home last Monday at 10 a.m. Services were conducted by Rev. J. H. Freedline, pastor of the Euclid Avenue Methodist Church. The I. O. O. F. had charge of the closing service. Interment in the Murray Cemetery.1
