Services will be 10:30 AM, Friday, March 18, 2005 at First Baptist Church with interment at Woodlawn Cemetery. Vistation will begin 10:00 AM Thursday, March 17, 2005 at George Boom Funeral Home with family present to greet friends from 7:00 - 8:00 PM.

Robert Dale Martinson son of Vern and Eva (Madsen) Martinson was born November 21, 1920 in Egan, SD. He grew up in Egan and graduated from Egan High School in 1939.

Robert worked with Nathan Thompson in Sioux Falls at a Mobil Station on 26th and Minnesota Avenue. He moved to Los Angeles, CA in June of 1941 to work at Northrap Aircraft in Hawthorne, CA.

Robert was united in marriage with Shirlie Johnson on September 14, 1941. Robert entered the United States Army August 31, 1944 in Minneapolis, MN. He served as a Tech Sgt during WWII. He was honorably discharged August 21, 1945 in Colorado Springs, CO.

Robert managed a Mobil Station at 12th and Main in Sioux Falls in March of 1951. He operated the Mobil Station until 1963 when he moved to 41st and Minnesota. The new business went under the name of Marty's Mobil Tire & Battery. He operated there until retirement in 1981. Shirlie passed away on November 21, 1990. Robert was united in marriage with Goldie Benson Larsen on September 6, 1992. The couple made their home in Sioux Falls, SD.

Marty was the president of the Sioux Falls Service Stations Owners Association. He was a member of First Baptist Church, the Morning Optimist Club, United Commercial Travelers, Junior Jaycees, South Sioux Kiwanis, the American Legion and Veterans of Foreign Wars.

Grateful for having shared his life are his wife, Goldie Martinson, Sioux Falls, SD; children, Russell (Helen) Martinson, Sioux Falls, SD, Carol (Howard) Poe, Las Vegas, NV, Steve Martinson, Green Bay, WI; brother, James Martinson, Carlsbad, CA; two step-sons, Charles H. (Diane) Larsen, Osh-Kosh, WI, Mark E. (Zigrid) Larsen, Sioux Falls, SD; 6 grandchildren; 3 great-grandchildren; 5 step grandchildren 2 step great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Shirlie, one brother, Gerald Martinson, and his parents.4
