Family 1 Elizabeth Rutter b. circa 1830, d. 10 October 1861
Marriage* 10 May 1850  Mary Shirer reports the marriage as: James Riley Shirer & Elizabeth P. Rutter 10 May 1850 Carroll, Indiana. Since James served in the Civil War in the OVI, it would seem more likely the marriage ocurred in Adamsville, OH. James Gurley Shirer's letter to his son also states that he married Elizabeth Rutter of Carrol Co., IN. so perhaps he returned to Ohio at the time of the war or afterthe death of his first wife.
