    Mrs. Emma R. Shirer, 71, wife of Harry E. Shirer, Adamsville funeral director, died at 9 a.m. Thursday at the home of her son, Gerald G. Shirer of Adamsville, following a long illness. She had been seriously ill for the past week.


    Mrs. Shirer was born in Macksburg on Dec 26, 1889, the daughter of Samuel A. and Harriett Keith Gibbs and spent most of her early life at Crooksville. She was married on June 24, 1911 and was a member of the Adamsville Order of Eastern Star.


    Surviving in addition to her husband and son are five brothers, Harry Gibbs of Deaverstown, Ray, Clyde and Frank Gibbs, all of Crooksville and the Rev. Orville Gibbs of Circleville; two sisters, Mrs. Pearl Simpson of Richmond and Mrs. Bessie Allen of Crooksville Route 1; and several nieces and nephews. One sister is deceased.


    Private services will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday at Shirer and Son Funeral Home with the Rev. George Willyard and the Rev. Fred Koepplin officiating. Burial will be in Adamsville Baptist Cemetery.
