DOUGLAS WHITMARSH Douglas Whitmarsh passed away March 7, 2009. He was born on March 25, 1950, in Salem Oregon, and he settled in Orland. After graduating from Oroville H.S. in 1969, he joined the Navy and was nicknamed "Mud Hen". Doug enjoyed hunting and fishing. So passionate about football, he volunteered to be the Orland Aztec's announcer for many years, even when ill. He was a member of the Paradise Duck Club and Orland Alumni Association. He is survived by his father and stepmother, Glen and Darlene Whitmarsh of Paradise; brother, Rick Whitmarsh of Orland; stepsisters, Gail Brewer of Colorado, and Rhonda Rollins of Manton, CA; stepbrother, Ralph Ellis of Indianapolis; long lost half brother, Dennis Sargent; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by younger brother, Mark Whitmarsh and mother, Nita Mossbarger. A Memorial gathering is on Saturday, March 21, 2009 at 1 p.m. at Zeke Ficher's, 6185 County Road 15 in Orland. Donations may be made to the Orland Alumni Association, P.O. Box 755, Orland, CA 95963 (memo) "OHS Announcing Booth".
