Note*   Joe married two more times. His third wife was Mary Josephine Parsons (b. May 13, 1851 d. Apr. 26, 1914) who he married in 1885. Joseph had a daughter Nell who was born ca 1878. It is not known whether she is the daughter of Joe and Martha or his second wife. See obit for more info.2

News/Obit* after 18 May 1930  Joseph Elliott WALTON, was born in Tuscaran County, Ohio, February 5, 1844, the son of Hiram and Elizabeth (EAKIN) WALTON. He died Sunday, May 18, 1930, at the home of his daughter, Mrs. D. C. HURLOCK, at 3081 Nowland Avenue, Indianapolis. He was the seventh child in a family of twelve children, and the last of the twelve to pass away. He enlisted in the OHIO INFANTRY, COMPANY I, THIRTIETH REGIMENT, August 22, 1861, and was discharged in August 1865. He was ordained a minister in the Methodist Episcopal church at Monroeville, Allen County, Indiana in 1870. Coming from Dubois County to Koleen in 1880, he served as pastor of the church until deafness forced him to resign, but remained a counselor in spiritual matters as well as a friend in need to all who sough him. He practice law at one time in Bloomfield and served as justice of the Peace in Koleen many years. He will be affectionately remembered by countless person as “Uncle Joe.” He is survived by the daughter, Mrs. HURLOCK, a granddaughter, Mrs. R. L. BROWN, of Indianapolis and two great-grandchildren, Audrey Ann and Jo Nelle BROWN. Military services were conducted by the Indianapolis Post of G. A. R. on Monday, May 19, and services Tuesday at MOOD Chapel, with the Rev. Quince FERGUSON of Kirby, officiating. Interment in MOOD Cemetery.2
