News/Obit after 29 February 2004  Margaret Joan Nesbit, 75 Topeka died quietly Sunday at her home in Topeka where she had lived since 1974.

She was born Mar 3, 1928 in Tulsa OK the daughter of Fred G. Manners Sr. & Maude Margaret Corp Manners. She graduated in 1946 from Garnett High School earning a degree in Journalism for the Univ of KS in 1950.

Joan was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Topeka and the Order of Eastern Star Union Chapter Ottaw.

She married Mark P. Nesbit on Oct 12, 1950 in Garnett. He preceded her in death she was also preceded by her brother William A. Manners.

She is survived by daughter Julie A DeLong, sons Phillip F. Nesbit, Terry L. Nesbit and William M. Nesbit 9 grandchildren and her brother Fred G. Manners Jr.

Services will be at 10:30 Friday in Klasse Chapel of the First United Methodist Church in Topeka with graveside services at 2:30 in Patton Cemetery north of Westphalia.

Mrs Nesbit will lie in state after noon Thursday at Penwell-Gabel Mid town Chapel where family will greet friends from 5:30 to 7 pm.1

TOPEKA - Margaret Joan Nesbit, 75, died Sunday, Feb. 29, at her home. Funeral services will be 10:30 p.m. Friday at First United Methodist Church, Topeka.

She was born March 3, 1928, at Tulsa to Fred G. and Maude Margaret (Corp) Manners.

She graduated from Garnett High School in 1946 and received a journalism degree from the University of Kansas in 1950.

She married Mark P. Nesbit Oct. 12, 1950, in Garnett. He died earlier.

She was a member of the First United Methodist Church, Topeka, and the Order of the Eastern Star.

Survivors include three sons, Phillip Nesbit, Warrenville, Ill., Terry Nesbit, Valley Center, and William Nesbit, Topeka; a daughter, Julie A. DeLong, Topeka; a brother, Fred Manners Jr., Tulsa; and nine grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by a brother, William A. Manners.

Graveside services will be 2:30 p.m. Friday at the Patton Cemetery north of Westphalia. The body will lie in state after noon Thursday at Penwell-Gable Midtown Chapel, Topeka, where the family will receive friends from 5:30 p.m. to 7 p.m. Thursday.

Memorials may be sent to the Shriner's Hospital for Children, 1305 Kansas Ave., Topeka 66612.
