Chugiak, Alaska; Forest E. BURLEW, 65, formerly of Branch County, Mich., died July 20, 1994, at his home, following a long illness.

He was born May 27, 1929, in Algansee Township, Branch County, a son of Forest C. and Goldie (NESBITT) BURLEW.

On June 20, 1948, he married Mary M. PETRIE, in Hillsdale, Mich.

He was a diesel mechanic and had worked 10 years for RCA-ALAS-COM until his retirement in 1983. He was a member of the Church of the Nazarene, Eagle River, the American Legion Post 33, Peters Creek, and Teamsters Local 959, Anchorage. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army serving during World War II. He had lived most of his life in Branch County, moving to Alaska 22 years ago.

Surviving are his wife; sons, Robert BURLEW, Crystal River, Fla., and Terrence BURLEW, Wasilla; daughters, Renee HARDY, Quincy, Mich., Darla SMITH, Coldwater, Mich., and Karen LEADERS, Knoxville, Tenn.; 11 grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; brothers, Gerald BURLEW, Richard BURLEW and Marwin BURLEY, all of Reading, Mich.; and sisters, Theta WOOD, Delaware, Ohio, Velma VINCE, Adrian, Mich., and Laura RUSHFORD, North Carolina.

Relatives and friends may call from 2-8 p.m. Sunday at the Dutcher Funeral Home, Coldwater, where services are at 2 p.m. Monday. The Rev. Dale Wesley, Eagle River Church of the Nazarene, will officiate. Burial will follow in Lester Cemetery.

Memorials may be directed to the Eagle River Church of the Nazarene Building Fund. Envelopes are available at the funeral home.

Forest Edward Burlew, 65, died July 20 at his Chugiak residence. A memorial service was held, Aug. 7, at the Eagle River Church of the Nazarene with Rev. Dale Wesley officiating. A funeral was held at the Dutcher Funeral Home in Coldwater, Mich., with burial in the Lester Cemetery in Algansee, Mich.

Mr. Burlew was born May 27, 1929, in Branch County, Mich. He was a diesel mechanic and had worked for RCA, then Alascom for 10 years, retiring in 1983. Mr. Burlew was a member of Teamsters Local #959 in Anchorage and the American Legion Post #33 in Peters Creek. He was also a member of the Eagle River Church of the Nazarene and had volunteered many hours of service.

Mr. Burlew is survived by his wife, Mary of Chugiak; sons, Terry of Wasilla and Robert of Crystal River, Fla., daughters, Renee Hardy of Quincy, Mich., Darla Smith of Coldwater, Mich., and Karen Leaders of Knoxville, Tenn.; brothers Gerald, Richard and Marwin, all of Reading, Mich.; sisters, Velna Vince and Laura Rushford of Adrian, Mich., and Theta Wood of Delaware, Ohio. Memorial donations may be sent to the Eagle River Church of the Nazarene, 11050 Cross Drive, Eagle River, 99577. Arrangements handled by Evergreen Memorial Chapel.1
