Note*   The mother of Carl's children is unknown. It would appear that he at some point married a dicorced woman who may or maynot be the mother of his children. The following obituary is for a woman who claims all Carl's children as siblings but since she herself is the daughter of Leonard Holeman and Anna Stephens, the circumstances are that either her father married Carl's ex-wife or Carl married Leonard's ex-wife.

Eva May Hendress

Eva May Hendress, 66, of Reynolds died Thursday, December 27, 2001 at the home of her daughter in Lafayette. She had been in failing health for several months.

She was born in White County on March 11, 1935, to Leonard "Bud" and Anna Stephens Holeman. She married Merle LaVerne Hendress in Reynolds on October 3, 1953. He died November 19, 1997.

She was a graduate of Reynolds High School and had resided in Reynolds most of her life.

She was a secretary for several years with Chalmers American Legion Auxiliary and retired due to failing health.

She was a member of the former Reynolds Christian Church, which is now the Reynolds United Community Baptist Church. She played the organ at the church for many years.

She loved baking, quilting, bowling and playing euchre.

Survivors include daughters Dianna (Larry D. Jr.) Myers, Lake Villa, IL, Cheryl (Jim) Willison, Lafayette and Susan (John) Shidler, Reynolds; sons Kevin (Debbie) Hendress, Monon, Dwayne Eugene (DeLea) Hendress and Eric Scott (Carol) Hendress, both of Reynolds, and Dennis A. (Tammy) Hendress, Brookston; a twin sister, Judy Ramey of Loveland, Colo.; sisters Karen Mathew, Reynolds, Ruth McCormick, Chalmers, Marge Lake of Lafayette, Ellen Buchs of Waterloo, Joanna Nesbitt of Garrett, Cathy Newman, Lafayette and Tina Coffman, Oxford; brothers Joe Sain of Ft. Wayne, Kenny Sain of Vermont, Gerald Sain of Texas, Carlyn Sain and Frank Nesbitt, both of Ft. Wayne and Jeff Holeman of Kokomo; 23 grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.

A sister, Helen De Nesbitt, is deceased.

Funeral Services were Sunday at the Reynolds United Community Baptist Church with Pastor Bill Martin officiating. Miller-Roscka Funeral Home was in charge.
Burial was in Chalmers Cemetery.

Memorials may be made to the St. Elizabeth Hospice Program.

News/Obit* 24 August 1993  CARL EUGENE NESBITT, 68, of Auburn died yesterday in DeKalb Memorial Hospital.

He retired in 1990 from Jess Lewis Transmission in Fort Wayne after 20 years.

Surviving are daughters, Ellen Buchs of Waterloo and Joanna Nesbitt of Avilla; a son, Frank of Huntertown; a brother, Floyd of Cincinnati; and 11 grandchildren.

Services are 2 p.m. tomorrow in Feller Funeral Home, where calling is noon to 2 p.m. tomorrow. Burial will be in Lehman Cemetery, Payne, Ohio.
