Ewing Gayle Pyeatt, 78, of Amarillo died Tuesday, Jan. 25, 2005.

Memorial services will be at 2 p.m. Friday in Schooler Funeral Home Brentwood Chapel, 4100 S. Georgia St., with Dean Bigham and Lewis Martin officiating.

Mr. Pyeatt was born March 11, 1926, in Memphis to Owen and Mary Pyeatt. He graduated from Clarendon High School and West Texas State University. He served in the Navy during World War II. He taught auto mechanics at Tascosa High School from 1967 to 1983. He was an avid golfer and loved hunting and fishing. He was a member of The Amarillo Bass Club.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his in-laws, A.E. and Jackie Ranson of Giles; and three brothers, Jack Pyeatt, Benny Pyeatt and El Ray Pyeatt.

Survivors include his wife, Reatha; two daughters, Mary-Margaret Eckert and husband, Scott, of Dallas and Bonita Speers of Richardson; a sister and brother-in-law, Scharlean and Joe Smith of Amarillo; a grandchild; two nephews; and eight nieces.

The family suggests memorials be to a favorite charity.
