LARNED -- John R. Shoup, 84, died Dec. 22, 2004, at Friendship Manor, Pratt. He was born June 24, 1920, at Cimarron. A Larned resident since 1946, he owned and operated Robinson Hardware. He was a U.S. Army Air Corps veteran of World War II.

Funeral was Monday at Beckwith Mortuary Chapel, Larned. Burial was in Cimarron Cemetery.

Survivors include: wife, Maxine; a son, Mark, Pratt; a daughter, Betsy Shoup, Lakewood, Colo.; a brother, Stanley, Larned; a sister, Martha Shoup, Maui, Hawaii; and five grandchildren.

Memorials may be sent to Larned Public Library or to Pratt Public Library, both in care of the mortuary, P.O. Box 477, Larned, KS 67550.

LARNED -- John R. Shoup, 84, died Dec. 22, 2004, at the Friendship Manor, Pratt, on the 66th anniversary of his marriage to his beloved wife Maxine.

He was born June 24, 1920, in Cimarron, the son of John R. and Elizabeth Jones Shoup. A Larned resident since 1946, moving from Boulder, Colo., he owned and operated Robinson Hardware.

He was a member of the NRA, Ducks Unlimited, American Legion and VFW, and 303rd Bomb Group Association. He was a decorated Army Air Corp Veteran of WW II and a retired lieutenant colonel in the Army National Guard.

On Dec. 22, 1938, he married Maxine Hoffman at Holly, Colorado. She survives.

Other survivors include; a son, Mark, Pratt; a daughter, Betsy Shoup, Lakewood, Colo.; a brother, Stanley, Larned; a sister, Martha Shoup, Maui, Hawaii; and five grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by a daughter, Carol Shoup Sanders.

Funeral was Monday at the Beckwith Mortuary Chapel, Larned, with Dr. Tom Sutter presiding. Burial was in the Cimarron Cemetery.

Memorials may be sent to the Larned Public Library or the Pratt Public Library, both in care of the Beckwith Mortuary, P.O. Box 477, Larned, KS 67550.
