Early Businesses in Cimmaron, Kansas

Little is know of the town during this decade. A Post Office was established in 1878, and the first Postmaster was George A. Day. The agents for the Santa Fe Railroad at this time were Shoup and Radcliff. The Shoup family continued to live in Cimarron and held the position of postmasters until the 1930's. The original Mr. Shoup and a Mr. Dill also owned a wholesale and retail store in Cimarron in 1878.
