Walter E. Decker, 75, of Avella, died at 9:30 p.m. Friday, January 14, 2005, in Allegheny General Hospital, Pittsburgh.

He was born July 7, 1929, in Canonsburg General Hospital, a son of Walter E. Sr. and Mary H. Gibson Decker.

Mr. Decker was a member of First United Methodist Church of McDonald, Independence Grange 179 and 5th-degree Pomona Grange.

A 1948 Trinity High School graduate, he worked 20 years at Universal Cyclops and 10 years at Teledyne Steel. He was a Canon-McMillan School District bus driver for 10 years.

He enjoyed Steelers football, fishing, boating and gardening.

On September 25, 1954, he married Wilma J. Cox, who survives.

Also surviving are two sons, Thomas Decker of Wind Ridge and William Decker of Monongahela; a daughter, Jane Decker McCullough of Cranberry Township; 10 grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Sunday in Jerome A. Stefkovich Funeral Home Inc., 18 Campbell Street, Avella, where services will be held at 1 p.m. Monday, January 17, with the Rev. Michael Tidd officiating. Burial will be held in North Buffalo Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the Decker family.
