My father Lt. George Richard Crossen served on the Bennington from 43 through 45. He passed away at 92 November 12, 1999. He was an arresting gear officer on board and spoke his whole life of the ships glorious adventures. He wrote a book called "Satin's not at Home" describing those events. He is survived by his wife, my mother, Barbara Crossen, Venice Florida 34292 and two sons Jim and Chuck...many grand children.
