Adam was supposed to have been hit and killed by a train outside Pennville in Fayette Co. and buried nearby. His death is recorded in the Registry of Wills in Somerset Co. Adam is not buried with his wife in Comp Cemetery in Southampton, Somerset Co, PA.

Text of the Deed:

This indenture made the fourth (4) day of June eighteen hundred and eighty five Between William Shirer and Elizabeth Freid (or Fried) of Pennville Fayette County Penna, George Shirer and Rebecca Emerick of Bard, Bedford county Penna, and Lydia Lowry (or Lowery) of Londonderry Twp. Bedford Co Penna, heirs of Adam Shirer decd. Of the first part and Jonathan J. Emerick of Londonderry Twp. County of Bedford and State of Penna of the second part Witnesseth that said parties of the first part for and in consideration of the sum of One hundred dollars lawful money of the United States of America unto them well and truly paid by the said party of the second part at and before the sealing and delivery of these presents the receipt of which is hereby acknowledged have granted bargained sold - released conveyed and confirmed and by these presents do grant bargain sell alien cutoff release couny and confirm unto the said party of the second part his heirs and assigns forever all the following property viz: All that certain tract of timber land known as the Southern half of the Daniel Green tract situated in Southampton Township Somerset County Penna. Beginning at a post at or near the Southern side of the waters of the Gladdens run thence running due east forty eight (48) perches thence North twenty four deg. East Seventy two (72) perches to the stones thence. North Sixty four deg. West Sixty six perches to stones. Thence South Six deg. West ninety three (93) perches to place of beginning containing about thirty two acres more or less and being a part of the real estate of the late Adam Shirer dec. being designated as -.8 in a plot or draft made by Niram Blackburne in pursuance of his survey of said lands made the 16th 17th and 18th days of Oct. 1877 and adjoining lands of Jacob Tochteners on the line of Somerset and Bedford County and the lands of the Buffalo Mining Co and the lands of Dennis Comp and others. Together with all and singular the said property improvements way's waters water-courses, rights liberties priviledges hereditaments and appustenances whatsoever thereunto belonging or in any wise appertaining and the reversions and remainders rents issues and profits thereof and all the estate right title interest property claim and demand whatsoever of the said parties of the first part in law equity or otherwise heresoever of in and to the same and every part thereof To have and to hold said Southern half of Danl Green tract of timber land and part of the real estate of the late Adam Shirer decd above described with all it's hereditaments and premises hereby granted or mentioned and intended Co to be with the appertenances until the said party of the second part his heirs and assignes to and for the only proper use and behoove of the said party of the second part his heirs and assigns forever. And William Shirer, Elizabeth Fried, George Shirer, Rebecca Emerick and Lydia Lowery heirs of Adam Shirer decd. The said parties of the first part for themselves and their heirs executors and administrators do by these presents covenant grant and agree to and with the said party of the second part his heirs and assigns that they the said parties of the first part and their heirs all and singular the hereditaments and premises herein above described and granted or mentioned or intended so to be with the app tenances unto the said party of the second part his heirs and assigns against there the said parties of the first part and their heirs and against all and every other person or persons whosoever lawfully claiming or to claim the same or any part thereof shall and will warrant and forever defend. In virtues whereof the said parties of the first part have to these presents set their hands and seals. Dated the day and year first above written. Sealed and delivered in the presence of WC Sturgis, J.K Eichler, for Wm. Shirer and E. Fried mark.
