Note*   Jacob Gaumer Jr. moved with his father and family to Washington township, Muskingum Co., OH in 1808 and then in Salem township adjacent to New Hope Lutheran church. His father had donated 2 acres of land for the cemetery. Jacob later moved his wife Elizabeth and family to Adams township where he built the first brick home in the township on land he had picked out during a hunting expedition. The brick for the home was made and burned on his farm in 1840 and the house was erected in 1841. He also assisted in the building of the New Hope Lutheran church and also the barn structure that replaced it years later.

Jacob served as a soldier during the War of 1812.
