The following is a copy of the obituary of Richard Dove:

Richard Dove Obituary
From the Ashland Gazette

Richard Dove, Sr., one of Ashland's oldest, well-known and highly respected citizens answered the final summons at his late home on Grant street, at about 11 o'clock this Friday morning, after an extended illness. For the past several days the condition of Mr. Dove has been critical.

Mr. Dove was born in Middlesex, England, eighty-four years ago last January. His wife preceded him in death two years ago last July. Mr. and Mrs. Dove were almost the same age, there being but a few months' difference in their years. They are survived by nine children, thirty-eight grand children and thirty one great grand children. Following are the sons and daughters:

Mrs. Benjamin Wallett of Akron; Mrs. David McConnell, Mrs. T.G. Stence, Mrs. A.A. Kern, Mrs. Edward Gantz of Akron, Mrs. William Gantz of Wooster, Mrs. Elizabeth Weddell, Fred Dove and Richard Dove, all residing in this community. A daughter and son, Lucy and William, died when children.

Richard Dove and Harriet Jones were united in marriage April 22, 1849, in Stepney Government Church, London, England, a Presbyterian minister performing the ceremony. At the time of their marriage, the groom was aged a couple of months past 20 years and the bride a couple weeks before reaching her 20th birthday.

Mr. and Mrs. Dove came to this country six years after their marriage and settled in Ashland county, east of this city. They moved to Ashland forty-eight years ago and lived here ever since, most of the time on College Avenue. Mr. Dove followed farm life for some time, but displayed an apatness (sic) toward brickmaking and devoted a greater podrtion (sic) of his life in this country to that business. For many years he has operated the brick yard in South Ashland, and there were few people of this locality better known and better liked than Mr. Dove and his estimable wife, both of whom have now passed from earth to life eternal.

On Thursday, April 22, 1909, Mr. and Mrs. Dove celebrated their sixtieth wedding anniversary - an event very few couples are privileded to enjoy. It was a notable occasion and observed in a fitting way. Almost fifty present and all enjoyed the day to the fullest measure.

Funeral services will occur Monday. Definite arrangements will be announced in tomorrow's Gazette.1
