An 87-year-old woman died Friday in a fire in her home.

The victim was identified as Consuelo Hartzler of Ashland Road.

A spokesman for the Summit County Medical Examiner said the fire apparently started when the woman's clothing caught fire while she was cooking.

WOOSTER Consuelo L. "Connie" Hartzler, 87, of Wooster, died Saturday, May 20, 2006, in Akron Children's Hospital, from injuries sustained the previous day.

Services will be Wednesday at 11 a.m. at St. Peter Lutheran Church with pastor Ted Pelikan officiating. Burial will be at New Pittsburg Cemetery.

Friends may call Tuesday from 7-9 p.m. at McIntire, Davis & Greene Funeral Home, 216 E. Larwill St., Wooster.

Memorials may be made to New Pittsburg Fire Department, in care of Roger Kamp, treasurer, 1466 Perry Township Road 35, Wooster 44691 or to St. Peter Lutheran Church, 9451 Ashland Road, Wooster 44691.

She was born Nov. 27, 1918, in Wooster to Dennis and Irma (Oberholtzer) Hiner.

She lived all of her life in the New Pittsburg area.

She was a homemaker all her life and she loved doing crossword puzzles and seeing her great-grandson.

She was a member of St. Peter Lutheran Church and the Faith Circle.

Surviving are her daughter and husband, Dianne and Paul McLaughlin; a grandson, and a great-grandson.

Her husband, Joseph F. Hartzler, whom she married Jan. 24, 1942, died Feb. 23, 1993; and a grandson, also died previously.
