NORTH RIDGEVILLE -- E. Opal Swinehart, 99, of North Ridgeville, formerly of Wooster, died Monday, Jan. 19, 2009, at Olmsted Manor Nursing Home in North Olmsted.

She was born July 4, 1909, in Congress Township, West Salem, the daughter of Charles D. and Minnie Belle (Camp) Dreibelbis, and married Alva Clark in 1928. He died in November 1970. In 1979, she married Brooks Swinehart. He died Aug. 20, 2002.

She was a 1927 graduate of Congress High School and was a homemaker. She had been a clerk for the former Barney Lehman's for a number of years and had worked at Layton School in the office and as an aide.

She was a member of Trinity United Church of Christ.

Surviving are a daughter, Annette Clark Hilliard of Oceanside, Calif.; a stepson, Ferrell Swinehart of Wooster and a stepdaughter, Phyllis Ann Ulshafer of Ashtabula; grandchildren, Greg Clark of Elyria, John Clark of New Port Beach, Calif., Tim Clark of Berea, Susan Kern Hopkins of Phoenix, Ariz., Edward L. Kern Jr. of San Diego, Calif., and Michael Kern of Oceanside, Calif.; 12 great-grandchildren; and a great-great-grandchild.

In addition to her husbands, she was preceded in death by her parents; son, William Clark; sisters, Nelle Swanson, Grace Mowrer, Rhea Mowrer, Ellen Buchanan, Mildred Dreibelbis and Doris Hiller; and brothers, Bryan, Russell, Carl Dreibelbis and Charles Dreibelbis Jr.

Services will be Saturday, Jan. 24, at 11 a.m. at McIntire, Davis & Greene Funeral Home, 216 E. Larwill St., Wooster, where friends may call one hour prior to the services. Interment will be in West Salem Cemetery. The Rev. Glenn Royer will officiate.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Trinity United Church of Christ, 150 E. North St., Wooster; or Hospice & Palliative Care of Greater Wayne County, 2525 Back Orrville Road, Wooster 44691.
